DPDP Act, 2023 / Obligations of Data Fiduciary / Section 5

Notice

Official Text Verified Last Verified: Recently
Editorial Explanation

What this means: Before a company asks for your consent, they must give you a clear "Notice".

The Notice Must Tell You:
- Exactly what data they want.
- Why they need it.
- How you can withdraw your consent later.
- How you can file a complaint with the Data Protection Board.

If a company collected your data before this law existed, they must send you a retrospective notice explaining the same things. The notice must be available in English and other regional languages (Eighth Schedule).
